The Ethics of the Unbroken Encounter
To capture the essence of a wild sentinel is a privilege that demands a
profound
ethical
debt. As the digital age accelerates, a shadow has fallen over the world of wildlife photography—a
superficial pursuit of status where the "perfect shot" is often bought at the cost of the subject's
freedom. There is a rising, silent epidemic of staged encounters and animals held in captivity simply to
appease the lens of those who prioritize the result over the reality.
I believe that an award-winning image means nothing if it is born from the confines of a cage or the
disruption of a natural spirit.
In this archive, the camera is a tool of truth, not a means of imposition. My pursuit is rooted in the
"Unbroken Thread" of genuine interaction - documented in the heat of the Namib and the dust of the
bushveld, where the animals are the masters of their own domain. These frames are the result of tireless
patience and a refusal to participate in the transactional ethics of modern social media.
We choose to work with the wild on its own terms. By rejecting the staged and the synthetic, we find a
